APPLE ISLAND NATURALS
Kathy Lind was born in Vancouver, grew up in northern BC and Powell River, and has lived all over the province, finally settling in Golden in 2005.
She made her first batch of cold process soap in 2007 and Apple Island Naturals was born shortly thereafter. Kathy is now a registered clinical aromatherapist and uses this knowledge, as well as her backgrounds in nursing and food preparation, to create all her own recipes and manufacture her many aromatherapy products.
Kathy uses only natural ingredients and sources her raw materials and packaging from Canadian suppliers only, as supporting other Canadian businesses is very important to her. Also important to her is using sustainable, cruelty-free, and environmentally friendly ingredients and packaging whenever possible. This is ongoing and she will often change her products and manufacturing processes as she learns and finds better options.
Apple Island’s products are on PETA’s list of cruelty-free businesses and Apple Island Naturals is a member of the Handmade Soap and Cosmetics Guild. All of the products are registered with Health Canada. Kathy sometimes distills her own essential oils and hydrosols – when she can find the time.
When not in her soap shop Kathy can be found cross-country skiing, swimming, or doing other outdoorsy things.
