BLISS BEADS
Sandra Arnold Beingessner, a native of Invermere, BC took her first Lampworking class in 2003. The glow of fluid glass and the beautiful wearable art finale make this medium very exciting and ever-changing.
Lampworking got its name because hundreds of years ago artisans heated glass using oil lamps. Modern lampworking involves using a propane/oxygen torch to heat rods of glass to over 1700 F. The molten glass is wound around a stainless steel mandrel. A variety of shapes can be made with the use of special tools and gravity.
Sandra’s beads are made with Effetre (Moretti, Murano (Vetrofond) and Lauscha soft glass. Beads are kiln-annealed for lasting durability and properly cleaned. Each bead is an original, wearable piece of art. The finest embellishments with her wearable art pieces include Sterling Silver, Bali Silver, Swarovski Crystals, Semi-Precious Stones and Pearls.
