SVITLANA DOVGANYCH

My name is Svitlana Dovganych. I was born and raised in Ukraine. My childhood was carefree and l had lots of time to play and craft. At the age of 15, l started studying at a local art college and later transferred to the university. I studied painting, drawing, sculpture, art history and, my favorite, ceramics. During my studies, l also had the opportunity to visit and work at some of the biggest ceramic factories in Ukraine. This greatly added to my experience in different techniques and mediums. After l graduated, l was invited to work as a manager in a local art and craft store. It was an unforgettable time, working with so many talented artists and passionate art lovers. In all honesty, being surrounded by such beauty moved me to start creating my own art. I fell in love with ceramic jewelry and found it a natural fit for my personality. When I am designing and creating something out of porcelain, time stops and I am transported back to my carefree childhood. An unusual calm embraces me and I am focused on playing and fun.

Also – the long Canadian winter provides the best opportunity to concentrate on designing new masterpieces ????
